Arginine and citrulline, the best amino acids before training
L-arginine is an amino acid that contributes to the regulation of energy metabolism in cells by participating in the Krebs cycle. In this reaction, a signaling molecule is also produced, i.e. nitric oxide, which can participate, among others, in in muscle contractility and metabolism, as well as in enhancing neuronal activity. Nitric oxide causes vasodilation (commonly referred to as a "muscle pump") and increases tissue perfusion, thereby improving oxygen and nutrient delivery for ATP production. Indeed, the availability of nitric oxide improves mitochondrial respiration and muscle biogenesis. And what is the relationship between arginine and citrulline? Well, L-citrulline is known as a precursor of L-arginine, which in turn is a substrate in the production of nitric oxide. L-citrulline therefore plays an important role in the metabolism and regulation of nitric oxide.
Taurine - what do you know about it?
Taurine is involved in the regulation of cell volume and plays a role in modulating the intracellular concentration of free calcium. Although it is one of the few amino acids not built into proteins, taurine is one of the most common amino acids found in the brain, retina, muscle tissue and organs throughout our body. Taurine has many different functions in the central nervous system3. Skeletal muscles contain significant amounts of it. Taurine is important in various processes taking place in our body (e.g. in the regulation of glucose and lipids, in energy metabolism). It also plays a role thanks to its antioxidant properties. Considering the wide distribution of taurine, its numerous properties and functional importance in the development, nutrition and survival of cells, taurine is undoubtedly one of the most important substances in the body.
Vitamins in a pre-workout
As you probably know, vitamins are also of great importance when you lead an active lifestyle. Therefore, our pre-workout could not lack them. As for the B vitamins, niacin, pantothenic acid, riboflavin and vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to the maintenance of normal energy metabolism, as well as to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. In addition, vitamin B6 contributes to the maintenance of proper protein and glycogen metabolism and to the regulation of hormonal activity, and folates help in the proper synthesis of amino acids. BOOM also contains vitamin C, which supports the proper functioning of the immune system, and vitamin E, which helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
