We've all heard of melatonin. But do we know what it really is?
Melatonin appeared very early in evolution. It is found in bacteria, single-celled eukaryotes, invertebrates and vertebrates, algae, plants and fungi, as well as in various foods such as vegetables, fruits, herbs and seeds. Simply put, in the human body, melatonin is the main hormone secreted by the pineal gland. The pineal gland is involved in many functions of the body by secreting the hormone melatonin, which is characterized by functional pleiotropy, which means that it has the ability to act in many directions. Melatonin is synthesized from tryptophan in the cells of the pineal gland, its secretion begins in the absence of light and is high at night. The opposite happens during the day - the amount of melatonin in our body is the lowest in the light phase.

The synthesis and secretion of melatonin amplifies darkness and inhibits light. Light information is transmitted from the retina to the pineal gland. In humans, its secretion begins shortly after sunset, peaks in the middle of the night (between 2 and 4 am) and gradually decreases in the second half of the night. Almost 80% of melatonin is synthesized at night, and its amounts during the day (compared to the night) are low (Tordjman et al., 2017).
There are plenty of available scientific materials and studies that describe the effect of melatonin on the human body. Certainly, this hormone is involved in the body's adaptation to the light-dark cycle of the environment. It has also been proven that it is involved in the regulation of biological rhythms (Kostoglou-Athanassiou, 2013).

Melatonin may be the solution as it helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. However, it should be remembered that the beneficial effect of melatonin occurs when 1 mg is consumed - shortly before going to bed.
Remember that falling asleep faster is a more effective rest. Consuming melatonin in the amount of 1 mg shortly before going to bed may be the solution to your problems with falling asleep!

Melatonin
Food supplement with melatonin. Melatonin contributes to the reduction of time necessary to fall asleep. Beneficial effect is obtained by consuming 1 mg of melatonin close to bedtime.
Recommended use
Take 1 capsule once a day without crunching up and with sufficient amount of liquid. Take 1 serving daily 30 min. before bedtime.
Warnings
Do not use while driving and operating machines, do not combine with alcohol consumption and other drugs, including herbal ones. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the supplement compounds. Do not use children, during pregnancy and nursing. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and well balanced diet. A balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are recommended.

Keep out of reach of young children. Store in a dry and cool place. Protect from direct sunlight. After opening consume within 3 months.
